In times such as these, to believe in a good God can be a hard thing to “do.” It’s easy to fall back on nihilistic, cynical thinking when we are faced with the seemingly hopeless condition of the world. Sometimes life can be so full of hardship and disappointment that it influences the way we find ourselves believing.
Board of Trustees Announces Presidential Appointment
The Board of Trustees of The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Craig Detweiler as the school’s third president. Dr. Detweiler will succeed Dr. Keith R. Anderson on January 1, 2018. In April Keith announced his plan to retire after 12 years as Dean/President effective October 2017.

A Path Through the Waters: A Message Shared with Ecclesia in Houston
Dr. Dan Allender and a team from The Allender Center at The Seattle School spent last weekend partnering with Ecclesia church in Houston. They spent time speaking and ministering to individuals who had experienced many levels of trauma during the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Ambiguous Loss & the Liturgies of Lament
It happens when a loved one is missing in a hurricane. It happens when a husband with Alzheimer’s doesn’t remember the day he married his partner. It happens when a child can’t get the attention of a depressed parent. An unnamable uncertainty creeps up in us. Family therapist Dr. Pauline Boss coined a term for this developing psychological area of study known as ambiguous loss.
