The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology is gearing up for its 18th Commencement ceremony later this month, 10:00am on Saturday, June 25, at the historic Town Hall in downtown Seattle. Alumni, faculty, staff, current students, spouses, partners, friends, and families will all gather together in celebration of the 71 students who are completing their time as graduate students at The Seattle School.
Commencement is a foundational part of The Seattle School’s annual rhythm, full of ritual, symbolism, beauty, and depth to help mark the meaningful, difficult, transformational work to which these students have committed themselves—and to welcome them into the next phase of their journey as Seattle School alumni. These students will now join the thriving network of alumni who are pursuing innovative, life-changing work in their vocations as therapists, pastors, leaders, and artists.
“Commencement is a sacred space,” says Dr. J. Derek McNeil, Senior Vice President of Academics and Academic Dean. “It is a moment to give thanks to the grace of God for the journey and to affirm a renewed call to life’s adventure and service.”
This year’s ceremony will feature student speakers Bethany Bylsma (MA in Counseling Psychology), Steven Denler (MA in Theology & Culture), and Seth Thomas (Master of Divinity). The community will also take time to recognize, honor, and thank Dr. Caprice Hollins and Christie Lynk, both of whom are transitioning from their many years of service as core faculty into new positions as adjunct faculty.
The program will also feature music by Puget Brass, a special vocal selection by Alex Zarecki (MATC), and the charge to graduating students by Dr. Keith Anderson, President of The Seattle School.
We hope that you will join us for what is always a beautiful and rich time for The Seattle School community. More event details are available here.
