Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology
For MACP students who began Fall 2020 and earlier.
Current Counseling Psychology students will be given the opportunity to choose between the low-residency and on-campus models to complete their program.
Declare your choice here by Friday, June 11.
For now, students who wish to continue in one of the two MACP concentrations will need to select the on-campus format, except for those students completing their Internship in the 2021-2022 academic year.

MACP Curriculum Changes
The curriculum shifts that we are introducing are designed to help students with licensing in other states and also address feedback from alumni, course evaluations, internship site supervisors, and others.
For all MACP students, regardless of on-campus or low-residency model, we are revising the degree curriculum and will begin rolling out these changes starting in Fall 2021.
We will offer all continuing MACP students (if you began in 2020 or earlier) the opportunity to complete the degrees in either the on-campus or low-residency program with the original curriculum, but you must follow the parameters outlined below:
- If you have not taken Human Growth & Development (CSL 510), this class will be offered in Fall 2021 as a 2 credit class in two formats: online and on-campus. After this term Human Growth & Development will ONLY be offered as a 3 credit class in the new curriculum (in both low-residency and on-campus models).
- If you have not yet taken Introduction to Counseling Children & Adolescents (CSL 524), this class will be offered on-campus ONLY in Fall 2021 and Fall 2023, and online in Fall 2022 and Fall 2024. We will continue to offer this course as an elective every year, alternating between on-campus and online. Students can choose the year and format regardless of program modality. This means you can take an on-campus course even if you selected the low-residency model and vice versa.
- Practicum III (CSL 538) will be offered only online in Winter 2022 and Winter 2023. This class will not be offered again after Winter 2023. If you are planning on a 2024 graduation date, you must take this class in 2023 (out of normal rotation).
- If you have not taken Second Year Practicum (CSL 553), this class will be offered in Fall 2021 in two formats: online and on-campus. This is the last year this class will be offered. If you do not take this course in Fall 2021, you will need to shift to the new curriculum to complete your degree. In Fall 2022, this course will shift to a 3 credit pre-internship course.
- Sexual Disorders (CSL 513) will not be offered in the coming year. Students may choose to replace this course with Human Sexuality (CSL 565) which will be offered in Fall 2021. Sexual Disorders (CSL 513) may be offered again in the 2022/23 academic year.
