Staff Accountant

Summary
We have an immediate opening for a staff accountant in the School’s Business Office, reporting to the Controller. Primary responsibilities include accounts receivable and payables management and general ledger reconciliation and close accounting.
Essential Functions
The Staff Accountant is responsible for:
- Accounts payable and vendor management
- Customer billing, payment application, and collection management
- Subsystem activity data transfers via journal entries and CSV imports
- Monthly close journal entries and account reconciliations
- Special projects (for example, 1099 preparation, audit support, and insurance renewals) as assigned by Controller
- Management of main accounting email inbox and relevant stakeholder communications
- Assist the Business Office with operations in accordance with The Seattle School policies and procedures
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- 2-3 years general ledger accounting experience (higher education or non-profit preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and a solid understanding of accrual accounting
- Experience with Oracle Netsuite a plus
- Experience with CSV imports preferred
- Expertise with Google Suite and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to hold complex systems and detailed transactional information without losing sight of the big picture
- Produce high quality work and communicate well
- Ability to work across complex organizational structures and interface with varying stakeholders and deadlines
- Ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively in a changing environment, and participate in operational, process and system improvements
- Familiarity and appreciation for the mission and values of The Seattle School.
- Must identify within the Christian faith tradition and agree to our Statement of Faith.
Compensation & Benefits
The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology provides a competitive total compensation package (salary, benefits, time off, and more). This is a full-time position with hybrid flexibility and an annual salary range of $55,000 – $60,000, depending on experience.
