Smruti Desai
Smruti (Smruthie) Desai is a licensed professional counselor in Decatur, GA and a licensed mental health counselor in Seattle, WA. For the last 14 years, she has worked with clients of all ages from a variety of backgrounds. Much of her clinical experience comes from working in community-based settings where she worked as a therapist and clinical supervisor. In addition, Smruti has specialized training working with developmental/relational trauma, social/cultural/generational trauma, children of immigrants, LGBTQ+/racial identity issues, and family of origin concerns. She is also very interested in the intersections of the systems we live in, our “individual” identities, our collective and individual nervous systems, and how that impacts our ways of relating to one another, ourselves, and the world.
A graduate of The Seattle School who received her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology in 2009, Smruti also holds a B.S. in English from Berry College in 2003. She completed the three year Somatic Experiencing training in 2020 and is an approved supervisor in Washington State.
In her free time, she enjoys exploring the food scene in Atlanta, spending time with loved ones, finding joy in big and small ways, and resting however possible.
