2019 Counseling Internship Fair

Every year, The Seattle School hosts an internship fair for MA in Counseling Psychology students preparing to begin their internship in the following fall term. The counseling internship is a pivotal opportunity for students to integrate classroom learning with hands-on clinical experience in the community. As such, The Seattle School’s faculty, staff, and Internship Director invest significant time and care into ensuring that students are equipped to find an internship site that will best prepare them for their future career.

As we have developed relationships with internship sites throughout Seattle and the Puget Sound area, we hear over and over again how much supervisors and directors look forward to working with students from The Seattle School. The relational awareness, curiosity, and integrative instincts that our students develop in their studies prepare them to offer a depth and quality of care that sets them apart—and internship sites are taking notice.

We anticipate having more than 25 sites participating at this year’s fair, including Atlantic Street Center, Sound Mental Health, Catholic Community Services, Compass Health, the YMCA, and Seattle Therapy Alliance—just to name a few. The wide variety of sites will enable students to apply to work with an extensive range of settings and populations, depending on their unique calling and career goals. Current Seattle School interns will also be available to share about their experiences at their particular sites, and about what they have learned applying their formation as students at The Seattle School to their community work.

The internship fair is required for any student planning to start a counseling internship in the Fall 2019. It is important that students be available for the entire event and arrive early enough to check in before 10, when Dr. O’Donnell Day, Internship Director, will share important information prior to entering the fair.
