The Seattle School’s 19th Commencement ceremony included a special vocal selection. Julie Hall (MACP), joined by husband, Sean and daughter, Lynna performs a song entitled “Bird” (music and lyrics by Sean and Lynna).

Bird

Got a bird in my hand
She fell from the sky
I had sent her up there
My song of delight
My praise came crashing down

Got a bird in my hand
She used to fly for the King
Now the heights and the winds
Are just distant dreams
My praise came crashing down

Got a bird in my hand
She’s a broken hallelujah
Violent storms ripped her wings
Feathers strewn in mud

Sometimes praises can’t rise
Like songs trapped inside
Of hearts that are wondering why
Pain broke their wings
Stole their voice that sings

God please don’t hide in the sky
Where we cannot fly

My God, come rushing down
(Heal our broken hallelujahs)
