Online Course Proposal Process
The following describes the steps to initially propose an online course to the development team. The intent of the initial proposal step is to have a starting place for discussions with the team. It’s not a final proposal, and not a commitment — just the first words in a conversation to give us your big-picture idea. After completing the first step we will be able to let you know whether or not the offering currently fits within our scope or ability to support.
Development Process for All Formats of New Offerings
Step 1: Propose
Initial Form – Take some time to review the questions and then submit the Initial Course Proposal Form. WAIT to do more until after meetings in the next step. The development team will reach out to you shortly. You can view various options for different types of courses and learning offerings here.
Step 2: Learn
Meetings – Meet with the Instructional Designer and Media Production Specialist to get more feedback on the proposed offering. They will have reviewed your Initial Proposal and will help you consider accessibility, andragogy, best practices for online formats, and align your online course with our mission and formats.
Step 3: R&D
Final R&D Form – Incorporate changes from what you learned in Step 2. These learnings should modify your original proposal. Submit the Final R&D Form. This will be reviewed for the Directors’ final decision-making. WAIT to do more until you come to a partnership agreement (MOU).
Step 4: Sign
MOU – If your proposal is accepted, Directors will work with you to decide parameters, timeline, and compensation. These will go into a signed agreement called a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). WAIT until you connect with a Project Manager and are invited to the pre-production phase.
