Campus Move

The Seattle School campus will move to the main, street level floor (2nd floor) of 1130 Rainier Ave South in the Spring of 2025. Prior to our move, the space will undergo a period of construction to outfit the space to our learning community’s needs. We are working with several partners, including the new building owners and construction consultants, to get the new space move-in ready.

April 2025: Projected move in
February 2025: Projected construction completion
November 2024: Move in scheduled for April 2025
October 2024: Construction began at 1130 Rainier Ave South
February 2024: “Saying Goodbye to 2501 Elliott Ave” event (February 2, 2024) to mark the beginning of a year-long transition
January 2024: Move delayed to Spring 2025
October 2023: General contractor selected & began ordering materials
September 2023: Construction plans finalized & permits submitted to city for approval
August 2023: Public Announcement of campus move to 1130 Rainer Ave S.
July: Board of Trustees & Executive Council selected 1130 Rainier Ave S. as new campus location

When is the move scheduled?We are currently planning to move between April 4-21, 2025 which is timed with the break between winter term and spring term. Provided there are not unanticipated major delays, this means that the spring term of 2025 will be the first term in the new building, and we will be in our current building through winter term 2025.
The 2025 spring residency and spring term on-campus classes are projected to take place in our new campus at 1130 Rainier Ave South. This could change if we run into any significant delays in construction.
The 2025 winter residency and winter term on-campus classes are projected to take place in our current campus at 2501 Elliott Ave.
Bus: The Rainier Ave S & S Charles St bus stops are a short 5 minute walk from the new campus.

Car: Parking near campus on streets with non-restricted zones is allowed. There are several streets nearby the campus that are non-restricted. Please refer to the
current Restricted Parking Zone (RPZ) map for the city of Seattle to determine if the street you plan to park on is restricted.
Campus Relocation Taskforce
We’re working with the owners of the building, Nitze-Stagen, as well as various construction consultants and contractors during the construction process. Our campus relocation taskforce is working on project management, communication, design, and logistics

This team will focus on managing project timelines and budget and handle internal communications.

This team will work on the finishes, design, and materials for our new space.

This team will coordinate all aspects of the move from our current building and into the new space.
Stay Connected
- We have design samples of flooring, carpet, and other design choices in the library – stop by and check them out during your next trip to campus. If you’re not on campus, see a digital view of it here. As soon as we have publicly available floor plans, we will make those available as well.
- We will be planning a number of events to get to know our new neighborhood and say goodbye to our current home. Stay tuned for details.
- We’re excited to share some digital renderings of what a few of the new spaces will look like. Note that some of the furniture and fixtures may change.
