2020 (Re)Orientation and Convocation

(Re)Orientation is an annual gathering where all students, staff, and faculty come together to (re)connect and (re)orient ourselves to the coming year at The Seattle School. This year, given the unique circumstances, we are integrating pieces that are traditionally part of our Saturday Convocation at St. Mark’s Cathedral into Wednesday’s (Re)Orientation. So, we will have a (Re)Orientation and Convocation on the same day. This event will include a community-wide charge from President McNeil, and alumni will join us for a liturgy of committing ourselves to one another in love and learning for the coming year.

Spouses, partners, and families are welcome and encouraged to attend. During our degree program breakout sessions, we will have a breakout room for spouses to connect with each other and with Becca Shirley and Sheelagh Carleton, our new Mosaic Facilitator!

(Re)Orientation and Convocation is an important rhythm in our student life cycle. Participation in the 11:00am-12:00pm prayer and lunch is optional. The 12:00pm-2:30:00pm session is required for all students.

Below is the basic schedule for the day:

11:00-11:30am A time of blessing the faces and spaces of our community
11:30-12:00pm Informal lunch together (with breakout rooms)
12:00-12:30pm Charge from our President
12:30-12:40pm Break
12:40-1:50pm Degree program break-outs (facilitated by faculty) and spouse/partner connections (facilitated by Mosaic)
