2020 New Student Orientation

The Seattle School staff and faculty are thrilled to welcome our 2020 cohort! New student orientation will take place over two days, September 8 and 9.

Tuesday’s gatherings will be specifically for incoming students. On Wednesday, new students will gather together with all returning students, staff, and faculty for a day of (Re)Orientation and Convocation.

Participation is required both days for all incoming students. Spouses/partners are also welcome to attend all gatherings and we will have a gathering specifically for spouses on Wednesday afternoon.

Below is the basic schedule for both days:

Tuesday, September 8:

12:00-12:30pm Informal connection time over lunch / tea
12:30-12:50pm Welcome and Orientation to Culture and Rhythms
12:50-1:00pm Break
1:00-2:30pm Break out rooms with staff representatives from Academics, Library, Financial Aid, Student Leadership, Facilities, and Accessibility/Accommodations.
2:30-3:00pm Return to main room for closing and la danse activity

Wednesday, September 9:

11 – 11:30am Community-wide Guided Prayer (optional)
11:30 -12pm Informal lunch for all students, staff, and faculty (optional)
12 – 12:30pm Charge from our President
12:30-12:40pm Break
12:40 – 1:50pm Degree program break-outs (facilitated by faculty) and Spouse Connections (facilitated by Mosaic)
1:50 – 2:00pm Break
2:00 – 2:30pm Convocation Litany of Commitment

New Students: To receive a Welcome Care Package from Academics and the Office of Students and Alumni, RSVP by August 29 and double check that your mailing address is accurate in MyCampus.

We will send you an email September 7 with the Zoom links and the schedule for both days.
