Summary
The Marketing & Communications Assistant is a student employee position and candidates must be Federal Work Study eligible. This role supports the breadth of work in the Marketing & Communications department. The Assistant will offer general administrative support as needed, including: organizing media, building blogs and emails in content builders, and directing requests and communications to appropriate roles on the team.
Essential Functions
The Marketing & Communications Assistant is responsible to:
- Weekly Community Newsletter: Solicit content, edit, organize, and build out emails
- Marketing Requests: Direct incoming emails and project or work requests to appropriate team members (web@tss, social@tss, Asana requests, etc.).
- Publish approved media, blogs, emails, and edits on various school websites and channels.
- Organization and storage of media and project files.
- Prepare expense reports and maintain department purchase receipts.
- Participate in staff meetings and trainings as required.
- Communication with outside vendors requesting quotes, samples, and placing orders.
- Occasional set up and operation of video cameras.
- Update various collateral templates as needed.
- Assume other responsibilities as mutually agreed upon with a supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Currently enrolled as a student of The Seattle School and eligible for Federal Work-Study funding.
- Understands the balance of functioning in various roles at the same institution, complying with all necessary confidentiality and regulatory requirements.
- Outstanding organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet and anticipate frequent deadlines in a timely manner.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills with a Marketing focus.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace, WordPress content management system, and Asana work management software.
- Some experience with mass email clients (e.g. MailChimp, Marketing Cloud, etc) and HTML and CSS a plus.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite applications a plus.
- Familiarity and appreciation for the mission and values of The Seattle School.
Compensation & Benefits
Our current rate is $18.69 per hour, FICA tax exempt when enrolled in classes. When you work at the school you attend, student employees are exempt from FICA taxes (7.65%) when classes are in session. Accordingly, the effective hourly rate is actually $20.24 per hour (for comparison to outside employment). Student employees are also eligible for Seattle Safe & Sick Time paid time off.
