Alumni Assistant (Work Study)

Summary
The Alumni Assistant is a work study position. The Alumni Assistant provides assistance for data entry, data management, event production, and daily administrative tasks as assigned by the Office of the President. The individual filling this position must be enrolled as a student at The Seattle School and must qualify for federal work study funding.
Essential Functions
The Alumni Assistant is responsible coordinate efforts with the Supervisor of Alumni Outreach to:
- Complete daily database management tasks, including data entry, and maintain a level of competency on databases such as Salesforce, Asana, Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications.
- Assist with planning and execution of events, including but not limited to Orientation, Convocation, Low Residency Events, Christmas Parties, (S)ending, Symposia, the Alumni Lecture Series, Maintain the alumni database under Element451 and Google Drive.
- Create, maintain, and work with Asana projects and tasks to facilitate collaboration with the Office of the President as well as other departments regarding deadlines and event/project information and completion.
- Coordinate volunteers for various events as needed.
- Maintain and update Elliott’s Wall and Facebook pages, posting job opportunities and community events to these social media outlets.
- General administrative duties and research as needed.
- Perform other office tasks such as filing, scheduling, copying, and answering phones.
- Edit, update, and maintain the Alumni Directory alongside MarCom.
- Regularly check-in for assignments and report progress to appropriate staff.
- Maintain deadlines and anticipate project completion needs.
- Think creatively in approaching projects so as to streamline the work and contribute to the growth of the organization as a whole.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Currently enrolled as a student of The Seattle School and qualifies for Federal Work Study funding.
- Understands the balance of studying and working at the same educational institution, complying with all necessary confidentiality and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Provide expertise with Microsoft Office applications, database software, social media, graphic design, web-related technologies including Google Docs, and office equipment (copier, postage machine, etc.).
- Ability to prioritize and manage workflow, work independently, and manage multiple projects.
- Demonstrate knowledge in office organization.
- Demonstrate a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Enjoy research and data collection.
- Participate creatively as part of a team.
- Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission and values of The Seattle School.
Compensation & Benefits
$19.97 per hour (FICA tax exempt when enrolled in classes). When you work at the school you attend, student employees are exempt from FICA taxes (7.65%) when classes are in session. Accordingly, the effective hourly rate is actually $21.63 per hour (for comparison to outside employment).
