The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology has announced the promotion of Paul Steinke to Vice President of Student & Alumni Development. He will also retain his former position, Dean of Students & Alumni.

In recent years, Steinke has been spearheading the launch and expansion of major alumni initiatives, including chapter cities, continued education and resources, and an extensive alumni directory—projects that received a significant boost from a recent $257,000 grant from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust. The grant will allow the hire of additional staff to work with the members of the Alumni Quad, who volunteer with the leadership team. All of this is in accordance with one of the five specific objectives outlined in The Seattle School’s strategic plan for future growth: to strengthen and mobilize the alumni identity.

PaulIn addition to his work with alumni, Steinke oversees The Seattle School’s Student Leadership and serves as a pastoral presence to the community, championing relational maturity, spiritual commitment, teamwork, strategic leadership, and a high level of excellence in pursuit of personal and institutional goals.

“The change is intended to update and align most accurately the leadership Paul has already provided and the institutional priority we have on students and alumni,” says Dr. Keith Anderson, President of The Seattle School. “Student and alumni development are not high priorities in most graduate schools and seminaries, but they are highly valued at The Seattle School. This change is one way we declare this priority.”

Steinke graduated from The Seattle School in 2005 and lives in West Seattle with his wife, Sarah, and their three children. “It’s a reflection of the prioritization that The Seattle School places on its students and alumni at a fundamental, institutional level,” he says about the promotion. “That’s what excites me most.”
