About Keith R. Anderson

Dr. Keith R. Anderson became the second president of The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology on October 9, 2009. Through the leadership of Keith Anderson, The Seattle School has moved into a new phase of growth and maturity as it continues to redefine graduate education.

Prior to joining The Seattle School, President Anderson served as Dean of Spiritual Formation and Vocation at Northwestern College (Iowa) and the director of Vocare, a program for theological exploration of vocation, funded by a $2 million grant from the Lilly Endowment. Since 2000, he has been the Senior Fellow for Spiritual Formation for the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, a consortium of 105 Christ-centered colleges in North America, with affiliated schools around the world. He came to The Seattle School in 2006 to serve as Chief Academic Officer.

Previously, he held roles as Dean of Spiritual Formation/Campus Pastor at Bethel University St. Paul, MN, and Dean of the University of Sioux Falls where he was also an Associate Professor of Religious Studies. His parish ministry experience includes serving urban parishes in Washington State, Michigan and Minnesota from 1972-1984. His educational background includes a Doctor of Ministry degree from George Fox Evangelical Seminary in August, 2002, as well as a Masters of Divinity from Bethel Theological Seminary in 1975 with a concentration in church ministries and preaching.

His publications include: Spiritual Mentoring: A Guide for Seeking and Giving Direction, InterVarsity Press, 1999 with recent versions published in Great Britain, Germany, South Korea, and China; Friendships That Run Deep, InterVarsity Press, August 1997 with a Spanish version in 2002 and Arabic version in 2003; Does God Believe in You? Downers Grove: InterVarsity Press, January 1997; Is This The One?, InterVarsity Press, May 1996, also published in Korean and Indonesian; What They Don't Always Teach You In A Christian College, Downers Grove: InterVarsity Press, August 1995.
